This is the season when we review our wants. We examine our wants. We choose our wants. We choose for now and for the coming year, for ourselves, our lives, our businesses.
For Christmas I want... a pair of brown gloves, a new long slice toaster in stainless steel....
For Christmas I want... family and friends to enjoy each other, world peace would be nice.....
But you know what I most love about Christmas? It's the joy. The joy that goes beyond explanation. The joy I feel walking in the crisp snow. The joy I feel when I see the twinkling lights. The joy I feel when I hear the Christmas music. The joy I feel when I see people shopping for their loved ones. The joy I feel knowing that Christ so loves us that He showed us how to return to joy.
The joy I feel knowing that joy isn't dependent on anything or anyone. Deep, deep joy is our natural state. Joy naturally wells up inside us. We have to work hard to squash it down again, to try to keep it down.
What if we didn't? What if we just let ourselves feel joy in spite of all the odds we have stacked against ourselves? What if we were happy for no reason at all? Even for just a second?
And the greatest joy is knowing that we are Christ, that we have the ability to create this world the way we want it. We have the ability.
Blessings for a Joy filled Season
